Manchester United transfer news LIVE Harry Maguire 'interest' plus takeover latest as Sir Jim Ratcliffe 'leading race'

A number of Manchester United players were in action on Thursday evening as the international break reached full flow.

Scott McTominay started for Scotland as fell to a 2-0 defeat in Spain, while Facundo Pellistri was in the starting line-up for Uruguay's meeting with Colombia. Victor Lindelof, Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir were all benched for Sweden, Cameroon and Turkey respectively.

In transfer news, West Ham are said to still be interested in Harry Maguire. The Hammers saw a move for the 30-year-old fall through in the summer but could be back in the market for a centre-back, with Kurt Zouma reportedly attracting interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.

And regarding the takeover, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is now said to be leading the race for a stake in United. The Ineos owner is thought to have put forward a revised proposal that would see him take a 25% stake in the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is leading the race to buy into United following his slightly revised offer, according to Bloomberg.

The report states that Ratcliffe is in talks to buy a minority share, believed to be around 25% and a mix of Glazer and minority investor shares.

The Glazers are said to prefer Ratcliffe's proposal for a minority stake over Sheikh Jassim's full takeover bid.
