Manchester United are right to back Erik ten Hag's latest transfer gamble

With Manchester United on the cusp of completing the signing of Andre Onana, they will now switch their focus to strengthening the other end of the pitch.

United went into this summer's transfer window with the primary objective of signing a world-class striker and that has so far been put on the back-burner after landing Mason Mount and chasing Onana. The Reds had not originally planned to sign a new first-choice goalkeeper this summer, meaning recent developments with David de Gea's situation threw a spanner in the works.

Nevertheless, United have acted swiftly to resolve the situation and are now on the brink of signing his successor in the form of Onana from Inter Milan. Talks between the two clubs are understood to have progressed well and it is now only a matter of time before he joins the club.

With his impending arrival at Old Trafford seemingly imminent, United can now switch their focus back to completing their main transfer mission and bring in the striker that they crave. The Reds struggled to score goals last season, meaning they are under pressure to increase their attacking output.
