Manchester United 'pressing' for £21.5m Sofyan Amrabat deal and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are holding firm on their €25million (£21.47m) valuation of Sofyan Amrabat but remain short of Fiorentina's asking price, according to reports in Italy.

Manager Erik ten Hag admitted on Monday that he would be open to more arrivals once the £72million deal for Rasmus Hojlund is finalised. The Dutchman would sanction reinforcements in central midfield, with the likely sales of Fred and Donny an de Beek leaving a gap in that area of the pitch.

Amrabat has been consistently linked with a move to United as he looks to leave Fiorentina. The 26-year-old attracted plenty of interest during a brilliant World Cup campaign with Morocco and continued to show his quality during the second half of last season.

Monday's print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (via SportWitness) suggests the two clubs remain in talks but there is a slight gap in valuation. United have set their stall out at around £21.5m whereas Fiorentina want €30m (around £25.7m).

The report adds that the Italian side would accept United's offer as an initial fee, but there would have to be potential add-ons that would likely take it above that in the future.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mail reports that United still hold an interest in Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, despite the Belgian looking most likely to join Liverpool this summer.
