Rasmus Hojlund arrives in UK to complete Manchester United transfer

Rasmus Hojlund has arrived in the UK to complete his transfer to Manchester United.

United have been aiming to sign a striker all summer and are closing in on doing so with the signing of Danish starlet Hojlund. The Reds reached an agreement with Atalanta for the transfer on Saturday and will pay a guaranteed £64million which could rise by a further £8m if certain clauses are met.

Erik ten Hag held talks with Hojlund over a video call early on in the window when the club abandoned hopes of signing Harry Kane after getting the impression Tottenham would not sell, especially to a direct Premier League rival. The 20-year-old has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.

It's hoped Hojlund will complete his transfer to Old Trafford this week and he arrived at Manchester Airport via a private jet on Tuesday at around 4pm before being pictured leaving the airport. The striker will now undertake a medical before sealing the transfer and will then take part in media duties for his official unveiling as a United player.

Hojlund will become United's third significant signing of the summer after the arrivals of Mason Mount and Andre Onana which has taken the club's spending in the transfer window up to £162.9m in up-front fees. With add-ons that figure rises to £179.2m.

Atalanta were still demanding £77m for Hojlund as early as last week and, although United negotiated the price down, they have still given into the Italian side's demands as they were reluctant to pay more than £60m.

United have two more friendlies this coming weekend against Lens and Athletic Bilbao and Hojlund could make his debut for the club in one of them. The
