Man Utd 'in contact today' over deal for £162k-p/w star at Old Trafford

Manchester United are working on a deal for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot with negotiations continuing into this week, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Erik ten Hag has endured a torrid start to the Premier League season and will be looking to the transfer market for help ahead of the September 1 deadline.

United have agreed a £15 million fee with Juventus for the transfer of the 27-year-old this summer although doubts have emerged over the player’s personal demands.

The club are in negotiations with the Rabiot’s agent and mother, Veronique, but the midfielder is demanding a pay rise, according to reports in Italy. They state that the player currently earns around £113,000 per week. But the demands put forward to United are reportedly closer to £162,000 per week.

The player himself seemingly moved to confirm his departure from the Allianz Stadium on Monday, however. A video emerged of him appearing to bid farewell to the Serie A giants.

United have also been targeting Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer and this deal is reportedly not seen as an alternative to the Dutchman at Old Trafford.

Romano understands that negotiations over personal terms are still ongoing for the France international.

United representatives were locked in negotiations across the weekend and they continued into Monday.

Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s the same today, on Monday. In order to reach an agreement on personal terms, there are contacts ongoing, as there were on Sunday, same today, so they are working on it to get it done.

There is no doubting that Rabiot has plenty of technical ability. You do not play for the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain if you don’t.
