Romano: Everton 'most likely' to sign £15m striker at Goodison Park

Everton is the “most likely destination” for Southampton striker Che Adams, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Following Richarlison’s departure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury, Frank Lampard is desperately trying to bring in a frontman before September’s deadline and Adams has emerged as one of the Toffees’ top targets.

According to the Telegraph, Everton will increase their interest in the Scotland international, who has now moved to the top of their summer wish list following their dreadful start to the season.

The Merseysiders have lost both of their Premier League games and have been forced to start with Anthony Gordon up front, with Calvert-Lewin facing up to six weeks on the sidelines through injury and Salomon Rodon suspended, although he did return at Aston Villa.

As a result of their lack of options, they’re targeting a move for Adams, who’s also been attracting attention from Nottingham Forest and Leeds.

Lampard has been a busy man in recent weeks, bringing in the likes of Ruben Vinagre, Dwight McNeil, Conor Coady and Amadou Onana, although he’s yet to welcome a striker to Goodison Park, which will be a concern ahead of their remaining August fixtures.

But Romano reckons their search for a frontman could soon change, with Adams’ next club most likely to be the Toffees.

When asked for an update on their pursuit of the ex-Sheffield United star, he told GIVEMESPORT: “For Che Adams, I think the most likely destination is Everton, they are really interested.”

Adams might not score the same volume of goals as Richarlison or Calvert-Lewin, but considering Everton are approaching the final two weeks of the window, he would be a very decent addition.
