Man United target shows Erik ten Hag what he's missing after ‘transfer meeting’

Manchester United target Ferdi Kadioglu scored a superb goal to show Erik ten Hag what he'd bring to the club.

Kadioglu's strike helped Fenerbahce secure an important 4-3 victory over Lugano in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying round clash. The Turkish international is currently plying his trade under ex-United manager Jose Mourinho, who doesn't want to lose the left-back this summer.

The 24-year-old was linked with a move to Arsenal in June, but he made it clear that he wanted to make his decision after Euro 2024, where he made five appearances for Turkey. Soon after United reportedly set up a meeting with his representatives, Kadioglu showed the club's hierarchy what he might bring to the club.

With Fenerbahce already 3-2 ahead against Lugano, Kadioglu picked up the ball 40 yards from goal and drove forward. He jinked the ball onto his right foot and unleashed a fierce effort that flew into the bottom left-hand corner to make it 4-2, reports the Mirror.

United found themselves particularly exposed at left-back last season after losing Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia to long-term injuries. That meant Ten Hag was forced to deploy both Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the left-hand side, despite the fact both are right-footed.

The absence of a natural left-back caused problems further up the pitch for the Red Devils, too. It meant the likes of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho did not have a natural full-back overlapping them.
