Man United land on £25m Matthijs de Ligt transfer alternative as surprise U-turn made

Manchester United are internally 'considering' a move for England striker Ivan Toney this summer - despite adding Joshua Zirkzee to their ranks - but there is one significant catch over a would-be transfer. Interest from United has been flagged up by GiveMeSport with speculation on Toney at fever pitch.

The 28-year-old is said to have Arsenal, Chelsea and other Premier League sides chasing his signature. However, a revived switch to Old Trafford could happen if Brentford reduce their asking price.

Toney only has 12 months to run on his contract with the Bees. The former Peterborough striker could be available for under £40million, though, putting United on red alert.
