Man United captain Bruno Fernandes shares telling message after classy Scott McTominay gesture

Bruno Fernandes has taken to social media to share a classy gesture from former Manchester United teammate Scott McTominay.

The Scotland international left Old Trafford in the summer to join Napoli, ending a 22-year association with the club. The decision came as a surprise among the fanbase and Erik ten Hag insisted he wanted the midfielder to stay.

It was a special occasion for the pair this week, when they reunited at Hampden Park as their national teams Portugal and Scotland faced each other. It comes just two months after McTominay completed the £25.4million move to Italian giants Napoli.

After the stalemate, McTominay gifted Fernandes his Napoli shirt. Taking to Instagram to post a picture, the United captain wrote: "Scott McTominay, the name that's conquered the heart of Napoli," followed by a kiss emoji.

Ten Hag previously expressed his disappointment at McTominay moving on. "It is a little bit mixed. I am very happy for him, but it is mixed because I wouldn’t prefer to lose him," he said.

"He is Manchester United in everything, he was so important for Manchester United. He was here for over 22 years but unfortunately it is the rules. Homegrown players bring more value and that is not the right thing to do but for everyone, for all parts, it is a good deal. Scott is happy with it, and Napoli and us."

Across his tenure at Old Trafford, McTominay made 255 appearances, scoring 29 goals. He joined the club as a boy in 2002 before making his first team debut 15 years later in 2017.
