Ruud van Nistelrooy press conference LIVE Man United boss on future, Amorim latest and Chelsea
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Ruud van Nistelrooy's pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester United vs Chelsea.
The former United forward has been placed in interim charge of the club following Erik ten Hag's sacking on Monday and made the dream start to life in the Old Trafford dugout on Wednesday evening.
Van Nistelrooy guided United to a 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup fourth round, as a brace apiece for Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, as well as an Alejandro Garnacho strike, set up a quarter-final clash away at Tottenham Hotspur.
With Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim expected to be named the club's next manager, Van Nistelrooy will remain in the hot seat until he makes the move from Portugal.
And his next task is the visit of Chelsea to Old Trafford as United look to revive their fortunes in the Premier League. Stick with us for build-up, updates and reaction as Van Nistelrooy faces the media at Carrington.
Ruben Amorim has revealed his appointment at Manchester United could be finalised by Friday night.
The Manchester Evening News revealed on Wednesday that United had agreed a fee for Amorim and his appointment is expected to be officially confirmed by the club imminently.
Sporting will play Estrela da Amadora at home on Friday and instead of shirking his media duties, he spoke to the press and took some questions on his future.
"It's a negotiation between two clubs, it's never easy," said Amorim about United. "Even with the clauses, it's never easy, they have to talk, and we will have clarification after the game, it will be very clear. So it's one more day after the game tomorrow, we will have a decision made."
