Man suffers life-threatening injuries as crash closes major Cardiff road - live updates

A man has been hospitalised with "life-threatening injuries" after a crash on a busy road linking the M4 with the A48 Eastern Avenue in Cardiff.

South Wales Police were called to the scene at around 7.30am on Monday morning, June 2, and the road remains closed at this time.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “South Wales Police was called at 7:30am this morning (Monday June 2) to a collision involving one car on the roundabout for Cardiff Gate just off the M4 slip road at Junction 30.

A man has been taken to University Hospital of Wales with what are described as life threatening injuries.”

Traffic monitoring services are showing heavy talkbacks remain on the A4232 coming off the M4 up to the roundabout junction with Heol Pontprennau.

The road is closed between that junction and the A48 Eastern Avenue in both directions due to a crash, traffic tracker Inrix reports.
