Man City have already been warned about Leeds danger in vital Premier League fixture

Manchester City travel to Elland Road this Saturday to take on Leeds United in the Premier League. City currently sit at the top of the league by a single point and could be two points behind Liverpool by the time they kick off on Saturday night if Liverpool win at Newcastle in the early kick-off.

On paper, it looks like it should be another straightforward win for Guardiola’s side but Leeds are still very much in a relegation fight and have found a bit of form under new manager Jesse Marsch.

Speaking after this week’s feisty goalless draw with Crystal Palace, Marsch told Sky Sports that coming up against Manchester City is like coming up against “the biggest Goliath in the world”.

“We need to go for it, not hold back, not to be afraid, he said. “We’ll create a game plan that can be aggressive but can also help us get a result in the match.”

In the reverse fixture at the Etihad, City thrashed Leeds 7-0 who were under the management of club legend Marcelo Bielsa at the time. However this game may not be as easy for the Premier League champions.

The West Yorkshire side are currently five points above the drop zone and are unbeaten in their last four games, winning two and drawing two. They earned a valuable point at Selhurst Park on Monday, a ground where City were also held to a goalless draw against Viera’s side in March.

Leeds will have to show the same amount of character as they did then on Saturday night in order to earn anything. It is the start of a tricky run in for Leeds, as after they face the current champions, they travel to Arsenal before hosting European champions Chelsea.
