Jamie Carragher explains Jurgen Klopp's reaction to Man City transfer for Erling Haaland

Jamie Carragher believes Manchester City's new signing Erling Haaland can be the difference they need to win the Champions League next season.

The 21-year-old completed a £51m move to the Premier League on Tuesday, subject to the finalisation of personal terms — ending the Blues' pursuit of replacing attacking stalwart Sergio Aguero. Haaland will arrive in Manchester with a huge reputation following his goalscoring exploits with RB Salzburg and, more recently, Borussia Dortmund.

"You can see it when you watch him play, I've seen him at times in the Champions League, he's like a battering ram just knocking people out the way and for such a young lad, that physicality," former Liverpool defender Carragher said to Sky Sports. "Jurgen Klopp will know him well because of his contacts at Dortmund but I think at Anfield he got a hat-trick or come on at half-time and completely changed the game — Jesse Marsch was in charge at Salzburg.

"He'll be well aware of him. The thing with it is everyone says how good City will be but City get between 95 to 100 points now, I don't think you can get any more.

"The big thing for City is if he was in the club this season, they wouldn't have went out to Madrid — that's where he can make that decisive impact in those games where they've lacked a striker but he's not going to take City to a completely different level because they're already at the top level."
