Maik Nawrocki completes Celtic transfer as summer signing number five bolsters Parkhead backline in 5 year deal

Maik Nawrocki has completed his transfer to Celtic on a five year deal deal from Legia Warsaw, the club have confirmed.

The 22-year-old is a product of the Werder Bremen academy and has been with the Polish side since 2021, but his performances last season helped attract attentions from the Premiership champions and Galatasaray, according to reports in Poland. Things moved quick this month as Nawrocki's name went from unknown amongst the support to the man on everybody's lips, with boss Brendan Rodgers now officially making him his fifth signing of the summer, in a deal reported to be worth £5.2m including bonuses alongside a sell-on clause.

Korean duo Yang Hyun-jun and Kwon Hyeok Kyu completed a double swoop on Monday when both the winger and the midfielder penned five-year deals in Glasgow from Gangwon and Busan IPark, with Celtic already signing Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio this summer. Rodgers said: “It’s another very good signing for us and we’re delighted to have brought Maik to the club. He’s a very highly-rated young player and someone who we believe will be a great addition to the squad. He’s also a player I am very much aware of, having seen him play for Legia Warsaw in the Europa League and I know he was very keen to move to Celtic, so we’re looking forward to working with him.”

Nawrocki added: "It’s great for me to have joined Celtic and I’m looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and start training with them.
