M62 traffic LIVE updates as huge queues build up following crash

Drivers are facing long delays in both directions on the M62 following a crash near Saddleworth.

Traffic is tailing back for several miles in either direction approaching the scene, between junctions 22 and 23.

It follows a crash involving a van which crossed over the central reservation, according to National Highways.

All traffic was initially stopped following the collision. One lane is now closed in each direction.

On the westbound carriageway, traffic is tailing back to junction 25 at Brighouse, West Yorkshire.

Drivers on the eastbound carriageway are stuck in queues which back up towards junction 21 at Milnrow.

Motorists are facing queues of up to an hour approaching the scene, National Highways says.

It comes as the region has been hit with heavy rain and strong winds, with a Met Office weather warning for wind in force until 6pm.
