LIVE updates amid long queues on M56 following crash

There a long queues on a motorway around Manchester after a crash. Queues of cars are growing after the accident on the M56 heading eastbound.

Two lanes were closed as a result of the accident, and delays are building.

The accident is now on the hard shoulder at junction four for Simonsway, Wythenshawe.

Queues are stretching back to junction six.

Highways England reports that congestion around the M56 eastbound exit slip road at Junction 6 remains, with normal traffic conditions expected to return around 2.15pm.

It says there are currently delays of 10 minutes against expected traffic.

Some congestion remains at the M56 eastbound exit slip road at Junction 6, which is expected to clear around 2pm.

Elsewhere traffic is starting to move freely between Junction 6 and Junction 7 following the earlier incident, according to Highways England.

According to the latest update from Highways England normal traffic conditions are expected to resume in the next ten minutes.

It says there are currently delays of 10 minutes against expected traffic between Junctions 7 and 8 following the earlier incident.

All lanes have reopened, but congestion is now stretching back from junction 4 of the M56 to before junction 6, for the Hale Four Seasons Roundabout.
