M62 LIVE updates as traffic STOPPED on motorway due to 'serious collision'
Traffic is being held on a motorway in Greater Manchester following a 'serious collision' involving two cars.
All emergency services are on the scene on the westbound carriageway of the M62 with congestion backing up for two miles.
The crash took place on the motorway between junctions 19 for Heywood and 18 for Simister on Sunday morning (August 10).
National Highways has warned motorists to 'plan ahead' if travelling in the area and expect delays of more than 45 minutes.

In a post on X, the highways agency said: "If you're heading #M62 westbound, delays in excess of 45 minutes. Approx. 2 miles of congestion.
"Traffic remains held between J19 (#Heywood) and J18 (#Simister) following a serious collision involing 2 cars.
"Please plan ahead if travelling in the area."
According to the National Highways website, disruption is expected to continue throughout the morning before traffic conditions return to normal.
