M6 traffic LIVE updates as two lanes closed following crash

Queues are building up on the M6 following a crash in Cheshire.

Drivers heading north towards Greater Manchester are being warned to expect disruption this afternoon (August 19).

Two lanes of traffic have been closed on the M6 northbound between junctions 17 at Sandbach and 18 at Holmes Chapel.

There is 'queueing traffic' through the area, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring service.

An update from Inrix said: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M6 Northbound from J17 A534 Old Mill Road (Sandbach / Crewe) to J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich / Holmes Chapel)."

Data from Google shows traffic queueing back beyond junction 17, near to Sandbach services.
