Woodhead Pass live updates as traffic held and long queues build up after crash
Traffic has been stopped on a key road between Manchester and Sheffield following a crash.
Emergency services are responding to a collision involving two vehicles on the A628 Woodhead Pass, at Crowden, this morning (September 2).
The incident is understood to have taken place before 6am, but traffic is now being held while emergency crews work at the scene.
A post on X from National Highways said: "There has been a collision involving two vehicles.

"Emergency services are currently on scene. Traffic is being held at the moment."
There are long delays approaching the scene in both directions, affecting commuters on the Peak District road.
An update from the Inrix traffic monitoring service said: "Long delays and lane closed due to accident on A628 Woodhead pass in both directions from A6024 Woodhead Road (Holmfirth Turn Off, Crowden) to A57 Mottram Moor (Gun Inn traffic lights, Hollingworth)."
