M6 traffic LIVE updates as lanes closed and queues build in both directions

Five incidents are causing delays on the M6 near Greater Manchester.

Queues are building on the northbound carriageway in Cheshire this afternoon (November 1).

Two lanes are closed between junctions 18 at Middlewich and 19 at Knutsford, for the A556 towards Manchester.

A post from the Inrix traffic monitoring service said: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M6 Northbound from J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich / Holmes Chapel) to J19 A556 (Knutsford)."

Separately, an earlier crash on the Thelwall Viaduct southbound is causing delays in both directions of the M6 near junction 21 for Irlam and Warrington.

Two lanes of traffic are also closed on the M6 southbound between junctions 18 at Middlewich and 17 at Sandbach following a collision.

A lane is also closed further south, between junctions 17 and 16 at Crewe, while the exit slip road is closed at junction 22 southbound near Newton-le-Willows following a breakdown.

Drivers have also been facing delays in Greater Manchester, following a crash on the M60 clockwise near Swinton earlier today.

Drivers are now also facing three separate issues on the southbound M6.

Two lanes of traffic have been closed between junctions 18 at Middlewich and 17 at Sandbach, following a crash.

Further south, one lane of traffic was already closed between junctions 17 and 16, at Crewe, after a separate collision.

Meanwhile, the exit slip road has been closed on the M6 southbound at junction 22 for Newton-le-Willows, due to a broken down vehicle.
