M6 LIVE as drivers stuck in long delays after van overturns in crash - traffic updates

Drivers are being warned to expect delays on the M6 this morning after a van overturned in a serious crash.

The incident happened on the southbound carriageway within junction 20A, at Lymm Interchange.

Police shut the motorway southbound before partially re-opening it.

National Highways posted at 5am: "The #M6 is closed southbound within J20A due to a collision.

"Traffic is being diverted via the #M56 westbound to J10 and is then required to return in the opposite direction to continue the intended journey.

"Please allow for extra travel time."

They added at 5.30am: "Lane 1 (of 3) has now reopened on the #M6 southbound within J20A (#M62) following a collision. Lanes 2 and 3 remain closed for recovery and clear up works.

"There is currently approx. 1 mile of congestion on approach to the incident."

Travel service Inrix has said: "Slow traffic and two lanes closed due to overturned Van and recovery work on M6 Southbound at J20A (Lymm Interchange).

"In lanes two and three (of three) following an accident involving an overturned van just before 05:00 this morning."
