M6 traffic LIVE updates as THREE lanes shut after trailer overturns

Drivers are being warned to expect disruption on the M6 after a trailer overturned on the road.

Three lanes of traffic are currently closed this morning (May 25) on the northbound carriageway in Wigan, between junctions 25 at Bryn and 26 for the M58 Orrell Interchange.

Traffic cameras from National Highways show a vehicle on its side in the outside lane, close to the central reservation.

Two lanes of traffic were closed off by cones earlier this morning and highways officers can be seen in attendance.

A third lane of traffic has now also been closed past the crash scene, while firefighters work in the area.

An earlier post from Inrix said: "Two lanes closed due to overturned trailer on M6 Northbound from J25 (Bryn) to J26 M58 (Orrell Interchange)."

Traffic is currently 'coping well' with the incident, according to Inrix, but the road is expected to get busier as Sunday morning goes on.

Details on the nature of the collision are yet to be confirmed.

Emergency services have been approached for further information.
