LIVE: Major Greater Manchester road CLOSED with police at scene - latest updates

A major road has been closed in Greater Manchester following an incident overnight.

Police are in attendance on the A34 Kingsway this morning (May 27).

The road is shut between the Cheadle Royal roundabout and Gatley Road, in Cheadle.

Officers are diverting traffic from the scene and a section of the road has been taped off.

Collision investigation work is taking place at the scene, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system.

It's understood that emergency services first attended the incident late on Monday night.

An incident is believed to have first been reported at 10pm.

Witnesses reported seeing an air ambulance at the scene.

Further details about the nature of the collision are yet to be confirmed.
