LIVE updates from court as suspects appear over weekend disorder in Greater Manchester

A number of suspects are set to appear in court today charged in connection with violent disorder in Greater Manchester over the weekend.

Scenes of disorder unfolded in Manchester city centre and in Bolton on Saturday and Sunday amid a widespread escalation of rioting across the UK. On Saturday, a demonstration organised under the banner of 'Enough is Enough' in Piccadilly Gardens became violent as attendees clashed with counter protesters and police.

Fights broke out, a supermarket had to be closed and public transport was brought to a standstill. On Sunday, a protest under the same name was held in Bolton.

Greater Manchester Police have not yet revealed the full details, but the Manchester Evening News understands a number of suspects are due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court this morning (August 5).
