Renters in Greater Manchester can take part in a First Dates-style event to find their new roommate

Renters looking for a new place to live in the city centre can take part in a First Dates-style event that will help match them up with a potential roommate.

First Street Dates will take place at the newly-revamped Gino D’Acampo restaurant within the INNSiDE by Meliá Manchester hotel on First Street, near Castlefield, next Wednesday (August 14). It takes inspiration from the popular Channel 4 dating show which sees strangers meet up for the first time over dinner.

The free event, hosted by upcoming co-living development Square Gardens, will feature tips from a top relationship guru as well as plenty of matchmaking opportunities, canapes, live music and drinks.

Leading global dating and relationship expert Jacob Lucas will be on hand to offer his expert guidance on how to find the perfect co-living partner and which green - and red - flags to keep an eye out for.

Offering some early advice ahead of the event, full-time coach Jacob said: “Embracing the co-living lifestyle can be a great way to land a lifelong friend but, as with all relationships, moving in together can have its challenges, so it’s important you make the right match.

“You need to find somebody whose habits and values align with yours. Asking the right questions and smart timing are some of the tips we’ll be running through to aid people in their search, as well as advice on establishing boundaries, resolving conflicts, and bonding from the beginning to ensure a happy, healthy living environment.”
