Live updates as vehicle fire shuts two lanes of M4 near Newport causing long delays

Drivers on the M4 are experiencing long delays following a car fire. Two lanes have been closed and there is heavy traffic at the start of the rush hour traffic peak on the eastbound carriageway.

The lanes are closed between Junction 25 Caerleon and Junction 24 Coldra, with congestion lasting up to Junction 27.

Wales is currently experiencing a heatwave which has seen temperatures soar to a sweltering 30°C in Cardiff this afternoon. These hot temperatures are set to persist over the weekend, with highs of 32°C on Saturday.
