Live updates as three separate crashes cause long delays in weekend getaway

There are reports of three serious crashes on busy roads in Wales, affecting those driving through Cardiff, Ceredigion and Newtown.

The A485 between Llanilar and Ceredigion is closed in both directions following an accident, as is the A483 between Newtown and Powys and the A48 Eastern Avenue in Cardiff is closed westbound, traffic tracker Inrix reports.

In Cardiff, the A48 Eastern Avenue westbound is closed, with drivers sat in standstill traffic due to accident at A470 North Road (Gabalfa Interchange). Traffic is also bumper to bumper at Culverhouse Cross on the approach to the city.
