Live updates as major Cardiff road is closed with several police cordons in place

A major road in Cardiff has been closed due to an "incident' with several cordons in place on adjoining roads. Newport Road to the east of the city centre was closed just before 4pm on Tuesday, December 17.

In a statement on social media, South Wales Police said: "We are at the scene of an ongoing incident on Newport Road, Cardiff. There are current cordons at the following locations: Newport Rd junc Orbit St, Newport Rd junc Piercefield Place, Newport Rd junc Longcross St, Orbit St junc Star St and Piercefield St junc Gold St. They are expected to remain closed for some time.
