Live updates as grass fire forces village road to close

A road is currently closed due to a grass fire in the Garw Valley in Bridgend county.

South Wales Police has confirmed that emergency services are currently at the scene of a grass fire at Bridgend Road, Pontycymer

The road is closed in both directions, with Oxford Street in Pontycymer used for a diversion.

It is expected to remain closed for some time, the police force has said.

They have advised that motorists avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.
