Live updates as 10 Cardiff schools close after burst water pipe leaves parts of city without water
Ten schools in one part of Cardiff have had to close on Friday after a water pipe burst. Schools, homes and businesses have been left without water because of the issue in the west of the city.
Schools that are closed include Plasmawr School in Fairwater, Danescourt Primary, Mary Immaculate and Fairwater Primary. The Welsh Water website says: "We're aware of a burst on our network which is affecting water supply in the CF5 area. Until the pipe is fixed you might experience low pressure or no water."
A spokesman added: “We are working hard to fix a burst water main in Fairwater, Cardiff, which is affecting supplies to customers in the Ely, Fairwater, Pentrebane and Radyr areas."
Engineers are at the site and they are hoping to restore water supplies "as soon as possible".
