LIVE updates after 'gunman on motorbike' opens fire on street yards from school

A cordon is in place in Salford after shots were fired at a property. Police have taped off Queen Street, off Manchester Road East, in Little Hulton.

An area is taped off near the entrance of St Edmunds RC Primary School. Forensics officers are at the scene this morning (December 28).

Greater Manchester Police said it was called out to reports of a firearms discharge at 5.55pm on Friday evening. It's believed three shots were fired at a property by an unknown suspect, or suspects, on a motorbike.

Images from the scene show a number of GMP cars in attendance on Manchester Road East. It's understood officers have been in attendance overnight.

Forensics officers have been seen going in and out of a property this morning. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large police presence in the area on Friday evening.

Detective Inspector Justin Bryant, from GMP's Salford district, said: "This incident will undoubtedly cause concern for those who live and work in the Little Hulton, and Salford as a whole. We strongly believe that this incident was targeted, with no wider threats to the public.

"Officers will be present in the area to reassure our local communities and are there to listen to any of your concerns. Your information, no matter how small you think it may seem, could prove invaluable to our ongoing investigation.
