M6 crash LIVE updates as drivers face long queues with two lanes shut

Motorists are facing long delays following a crash on the M6 near Wigan. Two lanes of traffic have been closed on the southbound carriageway this morning (January 15).

The lane closures are in place between junctions 27 at Standish and 26 for the M58 Orrell Interchange. Queues are building approaching the area, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system.

A post from Inrix said: "Long delays and two lanes closed due to accident on M6 Southbound from J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road (Standish) to J26 M58 (Orrell Interchange)." Data from Google shows traffic tailing back past Charnock Richard services.
