Serious accident closes Newport road after person 'trapped under car' - live updates

A serious accident has closed a residential road in Newport this morning. Rowan Way in Malpas is closed after an incident that is reported to have happened around 6am.

Police and ambulance crews are at the scene and bus services have been disrupted. The South Wales Argus reported that a pedestrian was injured and taken to hospital. The newspaper said that the woman was out walking her dog and was reported trapped under a car.

Newport Bus said: "Due to police activity on Rowan way the 19 service is unable to serve Rowan way until further notice. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause."
