LIVE: Police descend on estate and close roads as 'suspected grenade' is found - latest updates
Emergency services have descended on an estate in Bury this afternoon following the discovery of a 'suspected grenade'.
Fire crews and police were called to Rivington Drive on Seddon's Farm Estate on Sunday afternoon (June 30). A number of roads remain blocked off with a huge emergency services presence on the scene.
An 100m cordon is in place to ensure the 'safety' of the community, while Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) experts work to make the area safe.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: "We are currently responding to an incident on Rivington Drive in Bury where a suspected grenade has been found.
"Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) are in attendance with a 100m cordon in place to ensure the safety of the community."

A witness at the scene told the Manchester Evening News the suspected grenade has been moved

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 11.15am today (Sunday, 30 June), two fire engines from Whitefield and Bolton North fire stations, and the Technical Response Unit from Ashton-under-Lyne Community Fire Station, were called to attend an incident on Rivington Drive, Bury.
“Crews arrived quickly and are working alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe.
“Firefighters remain in attendance at this time.”
