LIVE: 'Mental' rush-hour traffic at busy M60 junction with police and fire crews on scene - latest updates

There are long delays on the M60 this evening following an incident at a busy junction, with police and fire crews currently at the scene.

Traffic has been described by motorists as 'mental', with emergency services blocking a lanes at a roundabout near J19.

Pictures show a number of police vehicles and fire engines at the scene with one lane blocked off. Further details about the incident have not been confirmed.

Greater Manchester Police and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted.

A motorist has told the M.E.N this evening that a car had 'driven the wrong way' around the busy roundabout.

"It turned the wrong way and is on the verge as you come off the M60 from Blackley," they said.

We are still waiting on full confirmation from the police and fire service.

Police and fire crews are at the scene at Junction 19.

The busy roundabout is used as an exit for Blackley and Heaton Park.

The ongoing incident is at the Rhodes Interchange, at the Junction 19 exit for Middleton Road.

Highways Officers are also at the scene.

Motorists stuck in the congestion this evening have told the Manchester Evening News there is a large emergency services response at the scene.

Pictures showed a number of fire engines and police vehicles in attendance with one of the lanes blocked off.
