LIVE: Police cordon off main road in Manchester city centre - latest updates

A police cordon is in place on a stretch of a main road in Manchester city centre this morning.

Officers have taped off part of Great Ancoats Street, close to the junction with Store Street, after a crash. Pictures show a number of police vehicles on the scene.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, the northbound side of Great Ancoats Street has been closed off. The closure is in place between Store Street and Lomax Street.

The crash reportedly involved a car and a lorry. Traffic is heavy on the busy road with queues building in the city centre.
