LIVE: Manchester city centre traffic chaos as busy junction shut and protesters block road
A crash and a protest are causing traffic issues in Manchester city centre today (July 27) - as Manchester Day celebrations take place.
The junction of Oxford Street and Portland Street is currently blocked after a crash. Drivers have been urged to 'avoid the area' as the two vehicles involved are recovered.
Police remain on the scene. Some bus services are also being diverted due to the incident.

In a post on X, GMP said: "#TRAFFICALERT | Oxford Street Jct with Portland Street is currently completely shut due to recovery of two vehicles involved in an earlier road traffic collision. We are asking those travelling via car to avoid the area for the time being. Updates to follow..."
Stagecoach said: "Wilmslow Road Services. Diversion heading towards #Manchester via Charles Street and Sackville Street. To outer destinations via Chorlton Street and Whitworth Street. This is due to a Police incident on Portland Street.
"Sorry if this is affecting your journey with us today."
A Palestine march is also taking place down Wilmslow Road. Demonstrators are blocking traffic on the main road, with bus services also being diverted.
Stagecoach said: "Wilmslow Road Services. Diversion towards #Manchester via Platt Lane, Lloyd Street and Booth Street West. To outer destinations via Hathersage Road, Upper Brook Street and Dickinson Road
"This is due to a current protest march taking place."
