LIVE: Major Manchester road CLOSED with emergency services in attendance - updates
Police and firefighters are in attendance after a blaze broke out on a major road near Manchester city centre.
A section of the A57 Hyde Road has been closed in Ardwick, near to the O2 Apollo, this morning (September 24).
The road is currently shut between the roundabout outside the Apollo, at the A6 Stockport Road, and Ford Street.
Queues are building up approaching the scene, according to Google traffic data.

The incident is affecting commuters heading towards the city centre from the Gorton area.
A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At around 5am on Wednesday, September 24, fire crews were called to reports of a fire at an industrial building on Hyde Road in Ardwick.
"Eight fire engines from were quickly mobilised to the incident. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire.
"The incident is now scaling down but emergency services remain at the scene."
Police are at the scene managing traffic while fire crews work in the area.

Hyde Road has now reopened, according to Google traffic data.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) says it has responded to a fire at an industrial building on Hyde Road.
The fire has been put out, but emergency services remain in attendance, with police managing traffic at the scene.
A GMFRS spokesperson said:
"At around 5am on Wednesday, September 24, fire crews were called to reports of a fire at an industrial building on Hyde Road in Ardwick.
"Eight fire engines from were quickly mobilised to the incident.
