Officers have shut a Greater Manchester road as they respond to a 'serious crash' - with drivers warned to expect hours of disruption.
A cordon is in place on Upholland Road in Billinge, near Wigan, this morning (June 12).
Greater Manchester Police says the road is closed between the service station and Cross Lane.
Police say the road is likely to be closed for 'some time'.
The Manchester Evening News understands the collision involves an elderly woman who was hurt.
Officers are treating the incident as a serious collision, the M.E.N. understands.
A GMP Wigan and Leigh spokesperson said: "Police are currently responding to an incident on Upholland Road, Billinge, which has resulted in the road being closed.
"At this time, Upholland Road is closed in both directions from the service station, to the junction with Cross Lane.

"The road is likely to be closed for some time, so please find an alternative route and plan ahead for your journey."
