LIVE: Long delays on M6 as motorists report 'gridlock' - latest updates
Motorists are having to contend with huge tailbacks on the M6 in Lancashire this afternoon.
Drivers using the southbound carriageway of the motorway are experiencing long delays.
Queues are forming between Burton-in-Kendal and Halton, near Lancaster. Motorists say they are struck in 'gridlock' with traffic backed up for miles.
AA Traffic News is reporting 'severe delays of 32 minutes' in the area between J36 and J34 with an average speed of 10mph. Traffic monitoring site Inrix posted shortly before 12pm about queues on the M6 around Carnforth.
