LIVE Huge police cordon as emergency services swarm street following incident in Middleton - updates

A large cordon is in place in Middleton with emergency services in attendance. Morton Street and part of Bardsley Street have been taped off.

Images from the scene appear to show forensics investigators in attendance. A fire engine and a search dog van are also inside the cordon.

Details on the nature of the incident are yet to be confirmed. Multiple sources have told the Manchester Evening News the emergency response follows a building fire which took place on Morton Street.

GMFRS has confirmed it also attended a fire at the same property on Wednesday night, at around 8.30pm.

Crews were at the scene for around two-and-a-half hours.
