LIVE: Armed police descend on Manchester Metropolitan University after 'misunderstanding' -updates
Armed police descended on a Manchester Metropolitan University building following a 'misunderstanding'. Six armed response teams have been seen arriving outside the Grosvenor East building, off Oxford Road in Manchester, this afternoon (May 17).
A number of police vehicles were in attendance. Officers carrying guns were seen entering the building, although some appear to have left the scene.
But the university has confirmed that the major response followed a mix-up at the site. A student carrying a fake sword was seen leaving a theatre rehearsal.
