Thomas Tuchel confirms Bayern Munich decision amid Man United Erik ten Hag pressure

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that he will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

Recent reports have claimed that the former Chelsea boss could opt to stay in Bavaria after it was initially announced in February that he would leave this summer. Tuchel has been linked with Manchester United amid uncertainty over the future of manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman is under pressure with United eighth in the Premier League table and at risk of missing out on Europe for the first time in a decade. They could, however, sneak into Europe by finishing seventh with a win against Brighton on the final day and if Newcastle drop points against Brentford, or if they win the FA Cup final on May 25.

But in a potential blow for Ten Hag's chances of remaining at Old Trafford, it has been confirmed that Tuchel will depart his current club. Ahead of Bayern's final game of the season on Saturday against Hoffenheim, the German admitted that talks had taken place over him possibly staying but no agreement was reached.

"This is my last press conference at Säbener Straße," he said. "There were talks, but we didn't reach an agreement, so the decision of February still stands

"It's obviously tough. Results like in the Champions League against Lazio, Arsenal and Real bring you together. The feedback from recent weeks was the foundation for us having a discussion. But we couldn't reach an agreement. I won't name the reasons. The agreement from February stands.
