Liam Delap explains what is expected of Man City loan players

Manchester City challenge their loan players to let their 'feet do the talking' when they leave the comforts of the City Football Academy.

Liam Delap is one of a number of youngsters out on loan this season and has made a good start to life at Hull in the Championship after two frustrating loans last season.

The striker scored the winner in an impressive 1-0 win at promotion favourites Leicester before the international break, taking down a long ball on the right, coming inside and sending a left-footed shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

He will be hoping to have a similar effect to the likes of James Trafford who earned a £19m move away from City in the summer, while Tommy Doyle and James McAtee earned Premier League moves by helping Sheffield United to promotion last season.

With a considerable gap between the first team and academy, players like Delap often have to leave on loan to prove themselves before having a chance of playing in the senior set-up permanently at City. If that isn't possible, the likes of Trafford, Shea Charles, Carlos Borges and Romeo Lavia have illustrated that permanent moves to good sides are available.

Reflecting on the help City provide for players, Delap explained how the Blues remain in regular contact, and have a simple expectation of their loanees.

"We're in contact quite a lot," Delap said. "The way it's run is very good. They have a department that's really good at helping us, no matter what we need.

"That always gives us someone else to go to. When you come on loan, it's a different type of experience and it's a nice feeling, they do help us a lot.
