Leicester City transfer 'dream' claim made as speculation continues

Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet has been linked with a move back to Serie A side Sampdoria this summer.

Praet, 28, joined City from the Italian side in 2019 for £18m and has made 60 appearances since, helping the club to their first ever FA Cup win last year.

After falling behind in Brendan Rodgers' pecking order last season, Praet spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Torino but spent time off the pitch due to numerous injuries.

It has previously been reported that Torino are keen to loan the Belgian midfielder again next season, with an option to make the deal permanent depending on the player's injuries and the club's position.

Now, according to Il Secolo XIX (via Sport Witness) Praet's former side Sampdoria have made the Belgian their 'dream' signing this summer and are 'thinking of bidding' for him.

The report also claimed Torino remain involved after Praet made 24 appearances in all competitions for them last season.

Sampdoria's lawyer Antonio Romei, who is in charge of negotiations alongside president Marco Lana, is said to be 'thinking about' a move this summer, but are dubious on the difficulty of getting the deal over the line.

They are set to battle with their league counterparts for the midfielder this summer, with Torino boss Ivan Juric asking president Urbano Cairo to make the loan move permanent after City put Praet 'up for sale' with a €12m (£10.4m) price tag the minimum required.
