Leicester City 'looking around' for transfer alternative as talks break down

Leicester City are "looking around" to find a suitor for midfielder Dennis Praet after frustrating talks with Serie A side Torino.

Praet spent last season on loan at the Turin-based side, making 24 appearances despite missing the best part of three months with a foot injury. The Italians initially took him on loan and are now said to want him back after an impressive season. There have been conflicting reports about whether the initial loan included an option to buy.

The sticking point in talks so far, though, is that Torino want a second loan deal with an obligation to buy at the end of it, whereas it is understood City would prefer a permanent deal. As a result, Tuttosport report that City are looking for another club willing to make a "higher offer" for the Belgian midfielder.

It has been something of a saga throughout the summer, with reports of various meetings, negotiations and offers from the Italian media. City are due to return to pre-season training at Seagrave tomorrow (Monday 27) and it will be interesting to see if Praet is among those to return.

Leicester may decide to stall on a decision for Praet amid reports linking both Youri Tielemans and Hamza Choudhury with moves away from the King Power Stadium. Manager Brendan Rodgers has previously said he wants two new midfield players, though no incomings have been confirmed as yet.

City have been linked with a number of central midfielders, including PSV's Ibrahim Sangare. He has attracted interest from across Europe, though PSV boss Ruud Van Nistelrooy has said his star midfielder wants to stay at the Dutch club.
