Leicester City sent transfer message over four players after Brendan Rodgers' comments

Leicester City fans have responded to Brendan Rodgers' comments about the future of some of the club’s fringe players this summer.

With no European football for the first time in three years next season, game time could be harder to come by than in the previous two seasons for some members of City’s squad. The number of games in recent seasons have seen Rodgers rotate his squad for certain matches, either in Europe or the Premier League.

Speaking ahead of the Premier League clash against Watford, Rodgers revealed that conversations with some players have already take place over a reduced amount of opportunities in the upcoming season. “It’s very difficult. I’ve already spoken to a number of players on that,” he said .

“We played 19 cup games this season, which is half of a season of games. Like what I’ve always done here, we’ll always give everything in the cups. But we’re a European competition down next season. It’s very difficult.

“The players’ behaviour and how they’ve focused over the course of the season has been great. But it’s always a challenge because players want to play, and if they’re not playing…

“I also think there's maybe been players here that need for their own careers to get more game-time. If they really want to push themselves as players and go and show they can have a career in the game, it’s probably beneficial for them that they can go and get some game-time. Having no European football next year means less games and less opportunities.”
