What Leicester City's perfect squad may look like after six transfers in 'healthy shake-up'

Leicester City and manager Brendan Rodgers are planning a “healthy shake-up” of the squad to reinvigorate the group ahead of the new season and hopefully spark a charge back up the table towards the European places.

But what will the squad look like once it has been refreshed? In an ideal world, what will Rodgers be working come the end of August?

The manager suggested six new recruits would be about the number needed to make the squad feel fresh. But to get all of the deals done, City will need sales, and Rodgers has suggested there could be a few moving on as it becomes difficult to accommodate so many players when there is no European football to offer.

It is understood that City’s priorities for this window are at centre-back, in central midfield, and on the right wing, and there have already been a number of players linked in each area of the pitch. Here’s a look at what City’s squad could be for the new campaign, broken down position by position.

There have been question marks around Kasper Schmeichel’s future, not just because the Dane admitted he may want to try somewhere else, potentially in a bid to play Champions League football again before he hangs up his gloves, but also because it is understood City have been on the lookout for new goalkeepers. But as things stand, it seems unlikely there will be changes in the department.

While Daniel Iversen impressed again on loan, it may be that he has one more season away before returning to the first team when Schmeichel’s contract is up next year, or is sold to help finance this summer’s deal. Beyond Schmeichel, City have a highly-rated back-up in Danny Ward, while Eldin Jakupovic may stick around as a well-liked third-choice goalkeeper.
