Leicester City identify target to fill transfer role as latest league debutant's future outlined

Leicester City will reportedly hire Southampton’s Martyn Glover as their new head of senior recruitment following the departure of Lee Congerton.

The search for a replacement has been going on since it was confirmed that the head of recruitment had left the club back in March . Congerton arrived at City along with Brendan Rodgers back in 2019, joining the City boss in swapping Celtic Park for the King Power Stadium.

During his time at the club, Congerton has overseen signings such as Wesley Fofana, James Justin and Timothy Castagne. The former City man has since taken up a role with Serie A side Atalanta.

Congerton’s departure led to work being done on finding a replacement, although plans are already in place for the summer transfer window. It now seems that the replacement has been found.

According to The Athletic , a deal to bring Southampton’s head of scouting and recruitment Martyn Glover is "in the process of being finalised". There is however still uncertainty about when he will arrive at the club. Read more here.

Brendan Rodgers deliberately chose to thrust Lewis Brunt into an away game at a big stadium for his Premier League debut.

The City boss brought on the 21-year-old for the final quarter of Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Tottenham, giving another chance to a player who impressed in first senior match in the FA Cup against Watford in January. Rodgers was keen to see how he coped in rather different surroundings.

Away from the “nice and comfy” atmosphere of home, Brunt had to play in front of 60,000 away at a Champions League chaser. Rodgers thought he did well, and he again showed his versatility by playing in defensive midfield having played as a centre-back for the Under-23s this term.
