Leeds: Rarely-seen 20 y/o now has big 'opportunity' at Elland Road

Leeds youngster Crysencio Summerville could get more of an opportunity with Luis Sinisterra facing a suspension, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 20-year-old Dutchman has come off the bench in the last couple of games and O’Rourke reckons that Sinisterra’s sending off could see him move up the pecking order.

Summerville is no stranger to the first-team, making nine appearances even before this season.

But in the last month or so, the winger has been getting a decent amount of minutes, with Jesse Marsch giving him a real chance to catch his eye.

After starting the EFL Cup victory over Barnsley, Summerville has come off the bench against both Brentford and Aston Villa.

With Dan James gone and Wilfried Gnonto yet to make his debut, Summerville’s chances of getting more minutes at Crystal Palace this weekend could improve with Sinisterra unavailable through suspension.

He was one of just two attacking substitutes used by Marsch in the goalless draw with Villa, although the fact Leeds were playing with 10 men might explain his decision slightly.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Summerville is very highly rated by Leeds. I think he’s done very well for the Under-23s this season as well, so an opportunity knocks for him now with Sinisterra facing a suspension that he might get some more minutes in the first team.”

In Summerville’s four appearances in all competitions for the senior team, he’s yet to chip in with a single goal or assist.

But for the Under-23s, the wide man looks a cut above and is clearly too good for Premier League 2 level.
